About Me
I graduated in 1996 from the British School of Osteopathy in London (now known as the University College of Osteopathy) and worked in Romford, Essex as a partner in a well established practice for more than 20 years. I have now moved back home to the West Country and work partly in Shaftesbury, Dorset and partly in Castle Cary in Somerset.
During my time in London, I spent several years teaching and examining undergraduate osteopathic students at some of the major osteopathic schools.
I have a very gentle style of working, preferring to use soft tissue techniques and articulation as well as cranial work and my treatment is suitable for all ages. My youngest patient so far is 1 day old and many of my patients are in their 80’s and 90’s. Part of my Masters’s degree in Osteopathy was to do with treating older adults and I have a particular interest in this area.
I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council, keep up to date with our required continuing professional development and am a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
Outside of work, I look after my daughter and am a keen bell ringer and walker. I also love to cook, and the variety of food is one of the things I miss about London.

Osteopathy can be described as a way of detecting, treating and preventing health problems through touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage. It also has a strong focus on promoting general health and well-being by providing advice on exercise, posture and lifestyle to complement manual therapy, aid recovery and prevent symptoms or injury from recurring.
Osteopathy can be used to treat a wide range of conditions – for example pain from arthritis, back and neck pain, minor sports injuries, headaches and postural problems – and is based on the principle that physical well-being depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues working together smoothly. Osteopaths aim to relieve muscle tension, enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and encourage the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
There is no need to visit your doctor before seeing an osteopath.
